Best Practice SIE

Best Practice Awards of SIE are selected from the PFR based on goals of Focus Programme. All together 21 projects have been chosen on the Governors Meeting in Lucerne (CH) 2018:

  • 1 project of the year
  • 1 TOP PROJECT, 3  "runners up" per category, education, women's empowerment, violence against women,  health & food security, sustainability. 
  • no cash reward

  • This year, 34 clubs of SIB have been involved in the UN campaign "ORANGE THE WORLD".  The Belgian Union has been rewarded of SIE as TOPIC PROJECT for a Best Practice Award. Violence against Women for this exceptionally successful action. Read more on page 22.
  • Club Les Deux Sources gets a BP Award (1. Runner Up) for an education project. "Braises – an educational, philosophical and citizen project". Read on page 12.

Peace Prize SIE

  • Price for a woman who is committed to peace
  • 5000 cash prize to max 25 000 Euro
  • Biennial

 

Florence, 16 July 2017-Soroptimist International of Europe has awarded the 2017 peace prize to  Gégé Katana Bukuru of the Democratic Republic of Congo for its remarkable and courageous commitment in the fight for women's rights in her war-torn country for more than a quarter of a century. On the recommendation of SI Club Marche-en-Famenne and supported by the Belgian Union she was proposed as candidate. 

 

Scholarship SIE

  • scholarship for a woman enabling her to finish education or internship/training whilst changing careers
  • cash reward up to max 15 000 Euros
  • annually

 

Dr. Suzanne Noël Scholarship

  • grant for a female doctor to finish her degree in plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • every even year

 

Objectives of the Focus Programme 

  1. Increase access to all types of education

  2. Improve access to economic empowerment

  3. Eliminate violence against women and girls

  4. Ensure women and girls have food security and access to the highest attainable standard of health care

  5. Address specific environmental needs of women and girls by improving environmental sustainability
