Clubs
The 55 Belgian Soroptimist clubs are geographically dispersed across the country. To date, we have 1660 members, who all endorse the objective of Soroptimist International: to improve the status of women and girls.
The Belgian Union has been in place for more than 75 years, the first Belgian SI club being established in Antwerp on April 12, 1930, followed eight years later by SI club Brussels-Doyen. Since 1947, new clubs have been founded on a regular basis - the most recent one is SI club Aalst in 2012.
National President
Every two years a national president is elected alternating from French and Flemish-speaking parts of Belgium.
During her mandate, the national president chooses a theme, relating to the status of women and girls and inspires her club to take action.
Actions
Between October 2014 and September 2015, more than € 700.153 was raised as a result of different actions by the clubs, allowing 334 projects to be undertaken to improve the lives of many women and girls.
Mentor
As one of the older Unions, Soroptimist International Belgium acts as a mentor for the Polish Union, its task being to give logistical support and advice.
