SIB Action Fund
This is a fund, interest from which, under certain conditions, can be used to support projects proposed by clubs in the Belgian Union.
The project proposed must be fully described by the club concerned and its implementation must be placed under the responsibility of the club.
The project must be in line with other projects being implemented by the Belgian Union, the European Federation, or Soroptimist International, and may relate to one or several programmes.
The club in question will make a Focus Report on the project. The club concerned must take on the financing of the project alone (minimum 50%) or in collaboration with other clubs.
Each project may be granted a maximum of 20% of the Action Fund. The decision on the granting of the funds will be taken by the SIB Committee, who must be in possession of a complete dossier and who will take advice from the national coordinator of the programme concerned. The deadline for receipt of the dossiers by the President of the Union is 1 March of each year. A single club can present a maximum of one project every two years.
Best Project Award SIB Every year the SIB offers a prize of 1,000 euros for the best project documented by a club of the Belgian Union. The projects must be sent to the Union President by 15 April 2007. The prize will be awarded by the SIB Committee in consultation with the national coordinators.
Prize for SIB 50th Anniversary
The prize will be awarded every five years by the SIB 50th Anniversary Association to a woman who has distinguished herself in the scientific and / or social / cultural field in the context of the six SI programmes. The latest award was made in 2004.
Suzanne NOEL Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded every two or four years by the French Union to a woman who has specialised in plastic and reconstructive surgery in order to enable her to enhance her skills. The scholarship was last awarded in 2006.
The prize for the ‘Best SIB Web Page’ (new !)
All Belgian clubs are eligible.
The prize will be awarded for the best web page(s) of a SIB club during the period 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2007.
The nature of the prize will be determined by the SIB Charity Administrative Council and it will be awarded in consultation with the webmaster.

Eligibility
Only women practising a profession can be candidates, not students (except in developing countries). The candidates can be Soroptimists or non-Soroptimists provided they are presented by the Soroptimist Union of their country or an individual Club in their country. Refugees and immigrants can also be presented by the Union of the country where they reside.
What is the value of the scholarship ? Up to 10,000 euros.
For what purposes can the scholarship be used ?
a) to offer women, practising a profession or vocation, the possibility of following studies or a course that will help with their professional development
b) to permit women who have temporarily interrupted their profession or vocation to follow studies or a course that will help them return to or change their career.
c) to grant subsidies to women in developing countries where a Soroptimist club exists, for education, professional training, or career development.

Deadline for applications : 13 January 2008, by sending to Sue Fortescue, Scholarships Commission, the official form together with a letter of recommendation. SI/E Action Fund
Conditions :
1) The project must be in line with other projects being implemented by the Belgian Union, the European Federation, or Soroptimist International and must relate to an SI programme.
2) A single country can present a maximum of one project each year.
3) The project must be concise and not constitute a governmental or civil programme.
4) The project must apply to women and children.
5) The project must contribute to a lasting improvement in the local situation.
6) The Club or Union which requests funds must be financially and actively involved in the project.
Maximum award: 5,300 euros
