Structure of Soroptimist International
Soroptimist International has a hierarchical structure.
The highest level is the Federation (4 existing and one being set up). SI of Americas; SI of Europe; SI of Great Britain and Ireland; SI of South West Pacific.
A Federation comprises the National Unions (e.g. SI of Europe) or Regions.
The National Unions or Regions are comprised of Clubs.
The Clubs are formed by members, the base of the structure.
The four levels of Soroptimist International function on a democratic basis, adapted to the needs of each level and to local circumstances.
The General Assembly makes decisions relating to internal matters, budget and elections.
The General Assembly comprises:
| Members representing their clubs | |
| An administrative and executive National Office whose composition, powers and meeting arrangements may vary | |
| Technical commissions (sometimes also used for resolving disputes) usually consisting of three members | |
| Six programme coordinators |
In order to involve as many soroptimists as possible the duration of the various offices is limited to two years. Some mandates are renewable. Each level, including the President, is involved in choosing, amongst the SI programmes, the projects it wishes to support on a national and international level.
